BIM - What does it mean and what is it for?

BIM stands for Building Information Modeling and it is a virtual model of a building containing design information. It is not just a software or graphic representations but a method for integrated design and management of the building process that is of interest to all professionals.
In practical terms, BIM makes it possible to create a 3D model of a building or part of one which includes the technical and functional specifications of the building materials and systems that it is composed of.

With the BIM method, the virtual construction model is developed in sync by all the professionals involved in the construction process, from the client to the designer to the builder. Step by step architects, surveyors, assessors, engineers, landscapers, technicians, structural engineers, plant builders, contractors and subcontractors add data and information related to their expertise to the shared model.

This working method minimises time and loss of information, facilitates the detection of interference, allowing a plurality of professionals to speak the same language and physically work on the same design file.

The GASBETON BIM library contains files and information on individual blocks and all building system components such as mortars, adhesives, insulating panels, special parts, but also complete pre-configured masonry solutions. It is an essential working tool for technicians who want to use the GASBETON building system in their BIM projects.

The tools contained in the GASBETON BIM library have been created by our Technical Department and validated by external bodies regarding the requirements of building professionals and the software used.
This library can be directly integrated in Revit, Archicad or other BIM software using RVT or IFC formats.

For all those who wish to support the BIM model with very detailed 2D construction details, a series of construction details available in DWG and PDF format can be downloaded from the same web page.
